Senior Software Engineer - Backend

Looking for a backend Staff Software Engineer who will helping and leading the efforts to build, improve and maintain PayPal's Remittances Platform. Our team is focused on building, improving, and supporting the core API’s that power the backend services for Xoom a PayPal service.

The impact you will bring goes directly to PayPal profitability through the remittance product, providing the core API's and services required to enable our customers to do cross border remittance transactions through PayPal. Additionally, this platform also powers the mobile and website products for Xoom, a PayPal service, meaning that you will be serving not only PayPal customers, but also Xoom customers.

• You will lead in the design and development of Java based API’s and backend services, working in a high-performance teamwork environment.
• Help and drive to identify, design, and build automated test frameworks to enable validation of the solution for scalability, consistency, accuracy, and repeatability.
• Collaborate with stakeholders (Product, Engineering Teams, Peers) to define and set standards for engineering rigor and help cultivate the culture in the team.
• Proactive attitude and response in identifying and troubleshooting production/development issues.
• Strong leadership and influence skills, expect to lead and move in an autonomous way, results-driven.

What do you need to bring:

• Proven track record working with real-world projects, and a solid understanding of system design/architecture.
• Strong knowledge and experience in designing and implementing API, REST,  event-driven patterns, and distributed/scalable architectures.
• Proficiency with backend development in Java, solid knowledge of OOP/OOD, and design patterns.
• Proficiency in database technologies such as MySQL, Cassandra, Elasticsearch
• Proficiency in DevOps concepts and using Docker, Jenkins, Git, etc.
