Senior Software Engineer

You directly contribute to driving projects that ensure high availability of the PayPal production site and continuously improving its reliability. 

You gather insights on site incidents and influence prioritization of areas that need focus. You work on finding long term solutions to problems that affect our customers and merchants. 

Your day to day 

• Build a culture of quality in Incident Management and Software development within the organization to ensure SRE leads by example. 

• Drive projects and initiatives to implement automated solutions for incident management, monitoring / alerting on key signals for enterprise service health, triaging, remediation and prevention of production impacting incidents. etc. 

• Translate customer and stakeholder current and future needs into self-service products. 

• Collaborate with leadership, customers, partners and stakeholders to move initiatives forward, balancing competing needs. 

• Lead high velocity Agile practices focused on results and engineering excellence. 

• Coach and support engineers on the team, with a strong focus on feedback and growth. 

• Gather insights around response to production site incidents, reliability and maintain KPIs.  

• Emphasize engineering best practices, iterative progress, delivering value, and data driven decision making. 

What do you need to bring 

• 6+ years of hands on software development experience or site reliability engineering experience. 

• Strong leadership presence and ability to lead through influence to drive execution of strategy in a global organization with competing priorities. 

• Good understanding of the fundamental aspects of Incident, Problem and Change Management. 

• Strong operational and project management experience, driving exceptional results every day. 

• Experience and knowledge with helping team develop and automate code testing, within high test coverage. 

• Exposure to front end and full stack design and development. 

• Proven experience leading engineering teams supporting multiple business functions. 

• Experience with Agile development and methodologies. 

• Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills. 

• Exposure to related platforms Splunk, DataDog, Terraform, PagerDuty, ServiceNow, Slack is preferred.
