What you need to know about the role- PayPal has several product lines that involve physical products for the consumer, SMB merchant, and enterprise merchant markets. These products which include credit card readers, retail displays, QR code products, and others, are sourced, distributed, and marketed globally. This role will have broad responsibilities to support our core payments hardware engineering teams with robots based testing, monitoring payments activities of large merchants and help provide world class support for Enterprise in-store merchants. You will work in a product and engineering team, while coordinating with payments app team, cards team and technical support teams and subject matter experts located globally.

Your way to impact :

As a Global Payments Hardware Engineering specialist, you will collaborate with product, engineering and operations teams to ensure world class support for merchants, product development and solve real world merchant problemsThis role will span across hardware engineering, software engineering, merchant reliability engineering, merchant support and quality assurance. 

Your day to day:

  • Monitor daily large merchant payments processing activities and resolve issues  

  • As needed, escalate identified issues to Global Engineering Support Manager 

  • Work cross-functionally with global internal and external systems developers, business experts, data analysts, SMEs and operations teams to execute and optimize 

  • Establish and manage relationships with key engineering leads and merchant TAM and SAM’s to help provide technical support for Large Enterprise Merchants with Enterprise Omni-Channel Portfolio 

  • Be able to develop automation scripts to automate robots to test payment terminal hardware with our Braintree Payments Stack 

  • Develop test cases and simulations to mimic real world situation with Enterprise In-store (EIS) and bring them to live testing in hardware labs in multiple global locations.  

  • Build strong collaboration with other Product Owners to align interfaces with other systems 

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships to external Partners  

  • Assist in scoping large development/enhancement efforts, gather detailed business requirements, define use cases and user stories, coordinate testing responsibilities, and launch enhancements to the user communities 

  • Participate in recurring hardware product development and launch meetings to identify and support process and systems changes that are required to support new and existing product sales and fulfillment requirements 

  • Evaluate which initiatives have the highest business value in relation to the development effort and align the roadmap and prioritize the backlog accordingly 

What do you need to bring:

  • 3 years of combined experience in payments hardware, robots based testing, automated testing and live testing with robots for payments experiences in in-store environment and some quality assurance experience desired. 

  • At a minimum 2 years in-depth, specific hands-on experience working with Verifone Payment Terminals and POS Integrators to make in-store payments processing. 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Supply Chain, or a related degree 

  • Experience in working with cross-functional teams, including business operations, finance, sales, warehouse/fulfillment personnel across the globe 

  • Agile and enthusiastic mindset and willingness to work around obstacles and setbacks 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; can communicate and present in a natural and efficient way, both within the team and with stakeholders 

  • Inquisitive mindset, ability to interrogate a request to unearth the true requirement 

  • Strategic, analytical, and strong in planning, prioritizing, execution, and follow up together with a “can-do attitude” 

  • Strong team and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work and collaborate with team members both technically and functionally. Strong interpersonal, organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills. 

  • Ability to travel to San Jose, California or United States Merchant Sites
