Senior Cybersecurity Engineer

What you need to know about the role: We are looking for a Cybersecurity Developer to join our Threat Detection Engineering team. In this individual contributor (IC) role, you will support and develop on-prem and cloud (Azure, AWS, GCP) defensive tools and procedures to optimize threat mitigation and reduce malicious activity for our customers.

Your day to day:

The primary day-today responsibilities include designing solutions to improve overall security posture for incident response operations, cybersecurity analysts and threat hunters across the global business.

Your way to impact:

• As a member of our team, you will secure our data and assets by implementing and maintaining security tools and processes and protecting us against cyber threats.
• Develop capabilities for an advanced system that can detect and alert any potential indicators of phishing attacks.
• Create automated processes and workflows to improve PayPal’s security posture and SLA adherence.
• Develop enriched automation for our XSOAR system.
• Provide situational awareness on the current threat landscape and the techniques, tactics and procedures associated with specific threats.
• Collaborate with colleagues across the globe to impact and drive results.

What do you need to bring:

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in information security technology or equivalent work experience and/or Security certifications.
• 2 - 5 years of experience in Cybersecurity, ideally 2 - 3 years as a Security Operation Center (SOC) Analyst.
• Extensive technical knowledge and a thorough understanding of cyber-attacks, including phishing and fraudulent attacks.
• Proficiency in Python and JavaScript, with a strong understanding of their syntax, data structures, and algorithms.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to write clear, concise, and maintainable code that can be easily understood by other developers.
• Strong technical experience and familiarity with various techniques of cyber-attacks, MITRE ATT&CK framework, Purple Team concepts, incident response, and threat hunting modeling.
• Highly motivated, results focused, innovative, curious, and a continuous learner.
• Strong organizational and multi-tasking and time management skills.
• Knowledge of common web technologies, enterprise, and network architecture.
• Knowledge of or demonstrated experience with defense in depth, trust levels, privileges and permissions.
• Ability to work in a dynamic and multicultural environment, with a collaborative and positive/professional persona.
