Senior Cloud Engineer

Develop automation scripts for effective utilization of infrastructure resources and waste management as a part of Cloud Optimization program.

Your day to day

• Develop systems and processes  to perform a regular and close follow-up of budget and build long-term financial strategies using cloud available tools (Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, etc.) to minimize cost while keeping flexibility

• Track infrastructure consumption across all the 3 cloud service providers

• Build and promote financial observability as well as optimization patterns

• Improve cost efficiency culture and build a true FinOps mindset within PayPal’s Infra team

• Continuously collaborate with Infrastructure and Product teams to adapt and optimize cloud infrastructure for their needs

• Work closely with the Infrastructure and Product teams to give them the ability to detect any unusual consumption in the cloud infrastructure footprint

What do you need to bring:

• Programming/scripting experience (Python, Shell, Golang will be an added advantage)

• Experience in cost management optimization/analysis for Cloud Service Providers and familiarity with their cost structure (AWS, GCP, Azure)

• Understanding of cloud service models IAAS, PAAS , SAAS for one or more cloud service providers

• Strong ability to analyze data, interpret data, and provide insightful conclusions

• Experience in Cloud Financial Management (CFM) and FinOps with fundamental knowledge of key concepts and value proposition

• Experience in creating/updating monitoring dashboards for capturing meaningful insights

• Experience with Agile methodologies/DevOps environment

• Engineering mindset focused on optimizing performance, scalability, resiliency and cost efficiency

• Enthusiastic in ownership, initiative, and collaboration
