MTS, Senior Systems Engineer

The ideal candidate will have strong understanding of Unix fundamentals, web protocols, load balancers, network and Infrastructure as a Service. Your way to impact

Autorouting Engineering Team manages critical Load balancing and aggregation service across PayPal Core Site Infrastructure. Site Reliability engineering is accountable for lifecycle management of core platform services.

Your day to day

Role requires niche technology understanding and in-depth troubleshooting skills to support on-call rotation to keep core aggregation services (Load Balancers and GSLB, DNS, NTP, Mail) up and running 24x7. This individual must keep the healthy on-call rotation (India daytime hours) available to support these key services.

What do you need to bring-

Self-directed work style with minimum supervision.

Ability to work in Agile framework and co-ordinate with a global team in different time zones.

More than 5 years of experience supporting enterprise infrastructure required.

Experience with F5, VMWare AVI Vantage Load Balancers or any other enterprise scale load balancers is required.

Solid understanding and expertise of Linux operating system, performance tuning and configuration including the automated installation etc.

Good understanding of virtualization technologies highly desirable.

Working experience in a cloud environment is required.

Experience in running DNS at enterprise scale is highly desired. monitoring, ability to write custom scripts/plugins for custom monitoring a plus.
Unix shell scripting on bash or Bourne shell required.
Strong technical/analytical and troubleshooting skills.
Good communication skills, both verbal and written across all user levels. Ability to create simple procedural documents.
Good team player, self-starter, goal oriented, open minded, flexible and customer focused.

Design experience in deploying infrastructure components like DNS/NTP in multiple availability zones.

Experience handling large scale email service is desired.

Experience supporting enterprise-class monitoring tools for network/systems/application
