This role performs sophisticated analytics on customer activity and usage patterns, leverages internal and external data, as well as operational information from data warehouses and business processes, and apply advanced behavior profiling, statistical techniques, machine learning algorithms to develop and productionize data science solutions.

Global Analytics & Data Sciences (GADS) serves as PayPal's enterprise Analytics & Data Science Solution(s)/Service(s) provider, consists of different vertical and horizontal sub-portfolios including consumer, merchant, risk, credit, customer operation etc. GoPay and core Fraud Science (GFS) is a portfolio under GADS focusing on global fraud models and components as well as end-to-end identity and Authentication Risk Lifecycle solutions.

This role performs sophisticated analytics on customer activity and usage patterns, leverages internal and external data, as well as operational information from data warehouses and business processes, and apply advanced behavior profiling, statistical techniques, machine learning algorithms to develop and productionize data science solutions.

Your day to day –

• Working with partners to translate business challenges into data science problems
• Data mining and extracting information in PayPal’s Big Data environment
• Design, develop, implement, execute, and monitor scoring models, solutions and other types of decision analytics to detect fraud risk by leveraging expert-based methodologies, advanced statistical techniques, and machine learning algorithms, such as GBT, neural networks, deep learning etc.
• Independent research and innovation in new content and technological domains, while supporting existing projects
• Broadening the machine learning playing field by using a wide range of research tools and methods, including applying scientific knowledge

What do you need to bring-

• Masters, PhD, or equivalent experience in a quantitative field (Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, etc.)
• Proficient in data mining and familiar with SQL, BigQuery, Python, etc.
• Code writing capability in any programming language (Python, R, Java, Scala, etc.) and familiarity with relevant ML packages.
• Proven experience in employing mathematical, statistical and machine learning methods on real world problems
• Must be an intuitive, organized analytical thinker, with the ability to drive analysis end to end
• Industry experience in payments, e-commerce, or financial services is a plus.
• Exceptional written and verbal English communication skills to influence cross-functional teams.
