On the Android Client Core team, you have the opportunity to have significant ownership of and impact on the performance, quality and stability of our mobile applications that hundreds of millions of people love to use.

What You'll Do:

As part of the team you'll be responsible for using your creativity, excellent problem solving, and technical skills to enable Venmo for Android to reach our next millions users. You will collaborate closely with other highly motivated and wonderful client engineers, backend engineers, data scientists, and product managers. You will use your in-depth knowledge of all things Android to craft features and infrastructure that

●      Improve measured and perceived performance

• Increase the quality of our apps on less performant devices and lower quality networks

●      Follow and promote security best practices

●      Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and shared knowledge.

●      Contribute to our existing continuous integration framework by automating features as we go.

●       The work you drive will play a key role in Venmo user satisfaction and growth. Existing customers will immediately benefit from this work, and many more new customers will follow. 

Who You Are:

You’re an experienced mobile engineer looking to make Venmo’s Android apps the best mobile experience out there. You're someone who excels at user-centric product development and has a passion for making beautiful, smooth, and delightful mobile experiences. You care deeply about performance, you're experienced with the tools of the trade, you're comfortable digging into the nitty-gritty, and you’re eager to have an impact at a global scale.

What we are looking for:

●      Bachelors and/or Masters in computer science OR related filed of study

●      4+ years experience in software development or a related field

●      Experience mentoring and developing software engineers

●      Strong communication skills with the ability to understand and explain technical issues to a non-technical audience

●      Android, Java, and Kotlin experience, including a deep understanding of the Android SDK

●      Intimate knowledge of common design patterns, algorithms, and object-oriented programming

●      Experience leading the development through the full Android development lifecycle

• Platform specific performance measurement and debugging tools
• General networking knowledge with detailed experience in Android networking stacks
• Technical depth that allows you to rapidly fix bugs and solve problems
