You’ve managed production infrastructure with Kubernetes, implemented CI/CD pipelines, and will not rest until your monitoring and alerting thresholds are so perfect that some people think you can see into the future. You’re curious, love experimenting with new tools, and keep your skills up to date (thank you for your service, Chef). You’re excited by the opportunities an ambitious startup will offer, and you look forward to building the tools that will support a diverse, growing team of engineers.

Stack:

• Google Cloud Platform is our platform for all custom application development and services, and we try wherever possible to use GCP managed services.
• Kubernetes orchestrated, Dockerized services, running the JVM and Node.js.
• Nix and dhall provide for repeatable builds and configuration management.
• gRPC is our common service language. GraphQL is provided for clients.
• Current languages of choice are Kotlin and TypeScript.
• App Engine hosts a number of small services and static file hosts.
• Managed Postgres with Cloud SQL.
• Managed message bus with Cloud PubSub.
• BigQuery is our data warehouse.
• Datadog handles our metrics, Sentry logs exceptions.
• Drone is our self-hosted CI/CD service.

What you’ll do:

• Build our core systems infrastructure.
• Contribute to all architectural decisions and direction.
• Evolve our current CI/CD systems for greater speed and visibility.
• Build new internal tools to support the needs of our product and platform engineering teams.
• Improve scalability, redundancy and security throughout the stack.
• Be available for on-call rotations should performance or stability issues arise after hours.
• Thoroughly document all systems.
• Be a code owner and project initiator, able to take an idea and run with it.
• Manage and build our core systems infrastructure.

What you’ll need:

• 3+ years work experience as a DevOps or infrastructure engineer in a cloud-based environment.
• Highly experienced with Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD, and systems’ monitoring.
• Expert scripting programmer with bash, Python and make.
• Proficient with most other aspects of our stack, or reasonable analogs.
• Ideally have managed or mentored other engineers.
• Thorough and capable debugger.
• Strong knowledge of package management and build systems, including npm, gradle / maven, (perhaps bazel).

Parsley Health is committed to providing an equitable, fair and transparent compensation program for all employees.

The starting salary for this role is between $144,500 - $170,000, depending on skills and experience. We take a geo-neutral approach to compensation within the US, meaning that we pay based on job function and level, not location.

Individual compensation decisions are based on a number of factors, including experience level, skillset, and balancing internal equity relative to peers at the company. We expect the majority of the candidates who are offered roles at our company to fall healthily throughout the range based on these factors. We recognize that the person we hire may be less experienced (or more senior) than this job description as posted. If that ends up being the case, the updated salary range will be communicated with candidates during the process.
