We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineers with expertise in TypeScript and Node.js to join our Global Engineering team. You will be supporting product teams in delivering innovative features for pre-checkout, delivery, and returns experiences for over 550 brands worldwide.
As a digital-first company, we offer greater flexibility in working location. For in-person collaboration, you can work from one of our offices in Munich (HQ), London, or remotely within Germany. For exceptional profiles, we'll also consider UK or Spain.
What you can expect:
- Take on responsibilities within a large JavaScript/TypeScript codebase that powers our backend in a highly scalable system
- Develop, deploy, and architect systems that serve millions of users every day
- Lead good engineering practices within the team
- Provide technical expertise and leadership within your team, coach team members, and influence their technical career paths
- Increase developer productivity while maintaining quality and reliability, driving agility and speed-to-market
- Contribute actively to technical decisions within the team and to the department's architectural roadmaps.
What you need to succeed:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in software development, preferably in building distributed, reliable, and highly available backend systems.
- Proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript or comparable backend languages such as Java and Go.
- Strong experience with modern technologies, including SQL, MongoDB, Cloud Platforms (e.g. AWS), Reliable Job Processing, Test Automation, Terraform, and GitHub Actions
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to a product-focused mindset
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to motivate and align teams
- Fluent in English, with a willingness to learn and grow
