We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help in scaling our headless Shopify site along with mentoring more junior team members. This role will report to our Engineering Manager and Director of Engineering. You will architect new features, write error-free, scalable frontend code, and guide the team to success through individual projects and initiatives. This is a chance to make an impact on a brand new site and growing organization. Your partners will be our Operational Experience team, Product, Design, and Marketing.
What You’ll Do:
- Mentor more junior team members through code reviews and pair coding
- Assist team members through difficult tasks and provide context for questions surrounding requirements
- Assist in breaking down projects into executable sprints and tasks
- Focus on iterating on and optimizing our e-commerce site, being mindful of UI/UX, accessibility, and performance.
- Engage in technical conversations across the team - architecture meetings, code review, etc.
- Break down large engineering and business initiatives into smaller iterative tasks.
- Collaborate with Product, Design, and Data teams to implement technical solutions to drive business value for all departments.
Who You Are:
- You have 5+ years of software engineering experience.
- You have experience mentoring junior engineers through PR reviews, pair programming, and thoughtful planning
- You have experience leading initiatives from inception to release
- You have experience working with some of our tech stack: React, NextJS, Vercel, and Shopify Plus.
- You have experience with CI/CD, unit testing, and E2E testing using frameworks like Playwright and Cypress.
- You can communicate internally within the Engineering team (e.g., PRs, documentation) and externally with stakeholders (e.g., support channels, status meetings).
Need to Have:
- 5 years Javascript experience (React preferred)
- Experience with NextJS or similar frameworks
- Ecommerce experience
- Experience working cross-functionally with other departments and stakeholders
Nice to Have:
- Experience with Vercel, Contentful, Optimizely, Storybook, or Chromatic
- Experience with project planning and scoping
- Experience with testing frameworks and automation

At Pair, we carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation. These considerations can cause your compensation to vary. The pay range for this position is expected to be between $140,000 - $165,000 and will depend on your skills, qualifications, and experience. Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives. We encourage all interested candidates to apply.
