Sr. Software Engineer

Brief summary of role:

You will be building systems that work in real-world environments. You are the kind of person that is stoked to build whatever it takes to deliver delightful, robust, and (dare I say it) magical systems for end users.

 What you’ll be doing:

• Develop Backend Web applications
• Plan and estimate the work required to build such systems 
• Prototype systems and run detailed tests to evaluate performance on real-world data
• Work with a small team of extraordinary Engineers 
• Ship real products that people in the real world actually use! 

What we’re looking for:

• 5+ years of experience software development 
• Be a true self-starter with startup experience
• 5+ years of experience in Java/JVM (Kotlin)
• Have an "any downtime is unacceptable" mentality
• Take security and customer privacy seriously
• Have advanced experience with:
  • Specifically EC2, RDS/Aurora, ALBs, SQS, S3, ECR
  • Java/JVM (Kotlin)
  • Linux
  • AWS (another cloud provider may work)
  • CI/CD systems (preferably TeamCity)
  • Docker and Dockerfiles
  • Bash and Python scripting
  • RDBMS / SQL (preferably Postgres)

Nice to have:

• • Experience with React.js
  • Experience with "infrastructure as code" (preferably Terraform)
  • Open-source software repositories and/or contributions

The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, education, demonstrated capabilities, and geographic location within the state. The following salary range applies to this role. 

If you are a Colorado applicant:

• The estimated pay range for this role, based in Colorado, is $165,000 - $190,000.
• Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in OpenSpace’s equity plan.
