About the Role
Octave is looking for an experienced platform engineer to help build out the infrastructure layer used by the engineering team. You’ll be working on initiatives to help ensure Octave systems are reliable, performant and efficient. We are a small but growing team who work primarily remotely, using Next.js (React), Django on PostgreSQL, gRPC and GraphQL to bring everything together. As one of the first infra engineers on the team, you’ll also be playing a critical role in helping set the direction of cloud infrastructure and automation at Octave.
- Help drive the long term direction and build out of cloud infrastructure.
- Work closely with product development teams to understand their workflows and look for opportunities to streamline and/or eliminate pain points.
- Understand the SDLC and help accelerate the delivery of products through automation and best practices.
- Be an internal advocate to teams on ways the leverage the latest cloud technologies.
About You
Must have:
- Strong experience working with and managing infrastructure on cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, GCP or Azure.)
- Strong experience working with Kubernetes in a production environment.
- Experience with Terraform or similar infrastructure-as-code technology.
- Experience with Docker in development and production environments.
- Experience with continuous delivery and troubleshooting production systems.
- Experience building CI/CD workflows and systems.
- Experience with a programming or scripting language (e.g. Python, Go, Ruby or JavaScript.)
- Comfortable communicating and collaborating with engineers, clinical, and operations staff to solve open-ended problems.
- Interest in doing mission-oriented work especially in the healthcare space.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship now or anytime in the future.
Nice to have:
- Experience with gRPC and Protobuf.
- Experience building internal tools.
- Experience working with healthcare, healthcare technology, and clinical staff, or other regulated industries.

Starting pay for qualified applicants will depend on a combination of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. The expected salary range for this role is set forth below and this range may be modified in the future.
The salary range for this role is $150,000- $200,000
Additionally, this position is eligible for the following benefits: company sponsored life insurance, disability and AD&D plans. Voluntary benefits such as 401k retirement, medical, dental, vision, FSA, HSA, dependent care and commuter/parking options are also available. Octave offers generous Paid Time Off as well as paid parental leave benefits.
