About the Role

The ability to monitor and control our vehicles remotely plays a key role in our business strategy. Teleoperations is both the system and process by which our vehicles’ self-driving capability is augmented by human intelligence to assist us in resolving long-tail edge cases in real-time as well as getting exposure to environments that the autonomy software isn’t quite ready for. The teleoperation controls team makes up the core of this system by providing the actual means for operators to influence the vehicle’s behavior in the world. While our core algorithms are driving the bot, our tools power the systematic analysis of the teleoperation system’s safety and efficacy. 

About the Work

• Developing the systems, interfaces, and software that allow operators to express their intent in an intuitive manner.
• Ensuring the safe action of the remote driving system both under human influence and in conjunction with autonomy.
• Work with both technical and non-technical partner teams to aid in the design of APIs and controls used up and down the stack.
• Build metrics off-boarding and pipelines to track and test the performance of the platform and guide on-going improvement.
• Collaborate with our operations team to understand their needs and to enhance the operational experience.

About You

• Experience with C++; proficient or expert level.
• Intellectual curiosity; you take an interest in the domains you work on and the tools you use.
• Experience working in and writing concurrent code and utilizing systems/os primitives.
• Passionate about code quality and safety.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues from a wide range of disciplines and backgrounds. You feel comfortable navigating situations with many stakeholders and requirements to consider.

At Nuro, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. For this position, the reasonably expected pay range is between $167,200 and $250,800/year for the level at which this job has been scoped. Your base pay will depend on several factors, including your experience, qualifications, education, location, and skills. In the event that you are considered for a different level, a higher or lower pay range would apply. This position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus, equity, and a competitive benefits package.
