Senior Backend Engineer

This is a hybrid-model role, with 2-3 days a week in-office expected in one of the following IBM office locations: San Jose, CA or Markham, ON

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Backend Engineer to join our platform team and help us build and scale our system running atop AWS & bare metal infrastructures. The NS1 Connect Platform team members own our Control Plane, there is a mix of services, systems, development, and oncall. 

We’re looking for a self-driven engineer who can immerse themselves in our platform immediately, leveraging existing technical strengths and teaching themselves the systems that are new to them. You should be proficient in Go or a similar language, have Postgres admin experience, and ideally some experience with distributed systems. You’ll take responsibility for the quality of your code, and your daily work will have an immediate company-wide impact.

Ideally, you’ll bring:

• Programing experience in Go or a similar language
• PostgreSQL administration experience
• AWS (other cloud provider experience may be considered)
• CI/CD pipelines
• Troubleshooting complex production systems
• Proficient with Docker and experience with containerized applications 
• Some experience with Terraform & Ansible
• Strong operational knowledge of Linux systems, security, networking, and automation
• Proficiency with scripting
• Ability to effectively collaborate across disciplines
• Extra kudos for experience with:
• Observability/Monitoring
• Kubernetes
• Performance tuning
• Domain Name System, DNS tools and protocol
• Jenkins
• RabbitMQ
• Kafka
• gRPC

Expected wage range: $125,000-$170,000 USD
*actual base salary may depend on geographical location and experience
