The Software Engineer at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company in Milwaukee, Wisconsin will write application source code according to industry-standard best practices. Collaborate with business partners, product owners and software engineers to build dynamic, visually attractive, end-to-end, and innovative software front-end and back-end product and apps. Apply experience with web frameworks (React/Redux), Rest APIs (NodeJS), Github, cloud infrastructure, information security, databases, and programming languages (Python, SQL,etc) to build real estate software products. Develop, update and analysis of legacy batch processes and scripts using Unix, SAS, Python, and Informatica. Modernize legacy batch process using python. Ensure cross-platform compatibility and fixing issues during test and production phases. Integrate container platforms with automated continuous integration CI and continuous delivery CD pipelines. Design and deploy containerized workload solutions on Kubernetes. Utilize software engineering workflows and practices, including git, CI, and unit testing. Gather requirements and specifications to understand business requirements in a detailed manner and translate into system requirements. Document decisions during design and implementation of processes and controls. Design, implement and test cloud computing solutions using Snowflake technology, creating, monitoring and optimization of ETL/ELT processes, migrating solutions via kafka feeds from on-premises to public cloud platforms. Work across disciplines, including web, API, cron, cloud, and database. Telecommuting permitted. Salary $108,326 - $185,250 per year.

Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree in computer science or a related field, plus 3 years (or a bachelor's degree plus 5 years) of experience as a software developer or related occupation. Experience must include 3 years of experience with each of the following: (1) Full stack development; (2) React, Node.js, SQL, and Python; (3) Unit testing; (4) front-end languages including JavaScript, CSS, HTML and front-end web frameworks including React and Bootstrap; (5) software engineering workflows and practices, including git, CI, and unit testing; and (6) developing functional, technical, and user interface designs for applications.
