The Software Engineer at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company in Milwaukee, Wisconsin will apply engineering best practices to analyze, design, develop, deploy, and support high-value, high-visibility software solutions. Solve abstract problems with a focus on maintaining high quality code. Apply engineering best practices in order to analyze and develop software solutions. Develop software using established development and continuous integration practices. Utilize established monitoring and automation processes. Conduct code evaluations. Participate in setting team standards and best practices. Work with TDD (automated unit, integration, etc.) to support continuous delivery and integration, ensuring software and system stability. Document and promote code documentation for forward maintainability. Represent team in collaborating with other specialists, designers, product managers, and nontechnical team members. Evolve and modernize systems to stay abreast of changes in technology landscape. Utilize an agile engineering approach to solve complex problems. Work with Javascript, NodeJS, React, Redux, Sagas, Java, Spring, Python, C#, AWS, EC2, S3, Lambda, Kafka, Scala, Docker, Maven, Kubernetes, Git, Gitlab, CSS, Enterprise Databases (Oracle, MS SQL Server, Postgres, MySQL), Jira, Enzyme, Jest, Mocha, REST API, Grunt, Gulp, Webpack, Express, Koa. Utilize mathematical (linear/mixed-integer) programming, infrastructure-design, and application architecture best practices. Telecommuting permitted. Salary $108,326 - $165,490 per year.

Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree in computer science or a related field, plus 2 years (or a bachelor’s degree plus 5 years) of experience as a software engineer, software developer, or related occupation. Experience must include 2 years with each of the following: (1) automation and unit testing; (2) programming, including data structure and algorithms; (3) Javascript, NodeJS, React, Redux, and Sagas; (4) Python, C#, AWS, EC2, S3, Lambda, Kafka, Scala, Docker, Maven, and Kubernetes; (5) Git, Gitlab, CSS, Jira, Enzyme, Jest, Mocha, REST API, Grunt, Gulp, Webpack, Express, and Koa; and (6) enterprise databases including Oracle, MS SQL Server, Postgres, or MySQL.
