Senior Software Engineer

The Senior Software Engineer at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company in Franklin, Wisconsin will design, build, test, release, and support existing and new risk products. Develop solutions to meet business needs through collaboration with business and technical teams. Coordinate with enterprise architects and align solutions to meet architectural recommendations. Lead and drive design, development, and delivery of new features and products while maintaining and enhancing existing features and products. Mentor and provide technical expertise to team members. Conduct design reviews, code reviews, optimize code, and ensure code quality for applications developed by team members. Provide data for regulatory driven audits and for other business units. Follow Agile Scrum software development lifecycle within all initiatives and actively participate in scrum ceremonies, including product increment planning, sprint planning, sprint reviews and product demos. Engage with business clients and other stakeholders to ensure deliverables are on track and meet end user expectations. Prioritize backlog based on inputs from business, system architects, and other stakeholders while monitoring dependencies and breaking down complex work. Collaborate with release management and quality control management to ensure application software changes are thoroughly tested before they are released to production environment. Telecommuting permitted 2 days per week. Salary $123,386- $203,840 per year.

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering (computer, mechanical) or a related field plus 5 years of experience as a software engineer or related occupation. Experience must include 3 years of experience with each of the following: (1) Mainframe, .Net, and JAVA platforms including use of PL/1, JCL, VSAM, DB2, SQL, CICS, File Manager, SAS, Control-M, and Changeman; (2) building and maintaining Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment pipelines; (3) requirement gathering, analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, and production support activities; (4) designing, coding, testing, and releasing artifacts; (5) collaborating and coordinating with multiple stakeholders and release and system testing teams; and (6) Agile scrum development and related activities including product increment planning, sprint planning, sprint reviews, retrospectives, and product demos.
