Lead Software Engineer

The Lead Software Engineer at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company in Milwaukee, WI will coordinate application development using agile principles. Understand new feature requirements based on business requirements and convert into user stories. Estimate new development feature work stories. Conduct system design based on refined stories available for development. Code system development based on system design, including Java web services and microservices on cloud and on prem infrastructure. Test data creation, unit testing, and build automated test beds. Utilize Oracle, Mockito, Gitlab, Java, J2ee, Sprint Boot, Web Services, Java Script, and ReactJS. Coordinate with various interfacing applications for integrating new software products. Conduct production deployment, post deployment support, and production support. Provide support for critical incidents in production. Conduct root cause analysis and short-term fixes for critical and noncritical incidents. Analyze code changes and deploy permanent fixes to production. Utilize Eclipse, IBM Rational Application Developer, and IBM MQ Series. Develop using Kafka, My SQL, DB2, and Mongo DB. Identify use cases for automation and implement these automated solutions in production. Research and understand application tech debt and find ways to address these in every program iteration. Telecommuting permitted 2 days per week.Salary $123,386- $246,740 per year.

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field plus 6 years of experience as a Software Engineer or in a related occupation. Experience must include 6 years with each of the following: (1) Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud Platform; (2) Eclipse, IBM Rational Application Developer, and IBM MQ Series; (3) Kafka, My SQL, DB2, and Mongo DB; (4) Oracle, Mockito and Gitlab; (5) Java, J2ee, Sprint Boot, Web Services, Java Script, and ReactJS; and (6) Agile, Waterfall, Test Driven Development, Business Domain Driven Design, and Java Design Patterns.
