Job Title: Principal Cybersecurity Engineer

Overview:

NIQ seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Cybersecurity Engineer to join our cybersecurity engineering team. This role requires expertise across multiple cybersecurity domains, including endpoint security, network security, cloud security, and vulnerability management. The Principal Cybersecurity Engineer will lead technical projects, provide strategic direction, and develop scalable, innovative solutions. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of designing and implementing complex cybersecurity frameworks while mentoring and guiding the team to achieve organizational goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive cybersecurity strategies across various domains (endpoint, network, cloud, and vulnerability management).
  • Lead the design and roll-out of large-scale cybersecurity initiatives, ensuring scalability, security, and performance.
  • Establish, manage, and maintain department KPIs and KRIs for effective performance and risk management.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in multiple security domains and influence enterprise-level policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Create and deliver detailed presentations for business leaders and stakeholders on cybersecurity risks and proposed solutions.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Program, Product, and Senior Tech Leaders, to align cybersecurity efforts with business goals.
  • Mentor and coach junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
  • Ensure that all cybersecurity processes are optimized for simplicity and clarity, reducing complexity where possible.
  • Drive POCs (Proof of Concepts) for emerging technologies, providing recommendations based on real-world application and testing.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related technical field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • 7-10+ years of experience in cybersecurity engineering, with extensive hands-on experience in multiple domains.
  • Proficiency in advanced cybersecurity tools and technologies, including those related to endpoint security, cloud security, network security, and vulnerability management.
  • Proven ability to design and implement complex technical solutions while leading teams through their development and deployment.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills, able to identify risks, data patterns, and resolve complex technical issues independently.
  • Technical proficiency in architectural concepts and their application to cybersecurity solutions, with the ability to contribute to design discussions.
  • Experience creating detailed reports and PowerPoint presentations to explain complex technical concepts in business terms.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with DevSecOps methodologies, including continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Knowledge of advanced cloud-native security tools and strategies for multi-cloud environments.
  • Ability to influence product development, ensuring cybersecurity considerations are baked into every phase of the product lifecycle.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with experience building and managing relationships with key business stakeholders, product teams, and senior leaders.
