As a Software Engineer with Nextdoor, Inc. (San Francisco, CA) (100% Telecommuting permitted) you’ll:

• Work with cross-functional, agile teams to translate product requirements into user-facing applications that support the company’s growth
• Develop and implement new features related to profile functionality on Android application and take ownership of the new product from development through deployment and production monitoring
• Identify technical requirements in product meetings and assist the business team with realistic project planning and feature development
• Translate product requirements into functional, maintainable, and extensible software that is in-line with company objectives
• Contribute to Android application core infrastructure and upgrade build systems
• Collaborate with Android Engineers to determine the best way to maintain low response times as new features are designed
• Run and analyze experiments for new features launched on platform related to profile to understand their impact on overall metrics and provide suggestions to either launch or modify the features/products

What You’ll Bring to The House 

• Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or closely related technical discipline
• Three (3) years of experience in the position offered or as an Android Applications Engineer, Project Engineer, or closely related position
• In the alternative, will accept a Bachelor’s degree in the fields above followed by five (5) years of progressive, post-bachelor’s experience in positions specified above
• Must have demonstrated experience in the following: Utilizing Agile methodology to develop software at all levels of software delivery lifecycle (requirements gathering, design, testing, development, documentation, code review); Utilizing Object-Oriented programming languages, including Javascript/React, Python/Django, and Kotlin, to write/modify source codes and correct defects; Utilizing architecture and design to develop new features or improving existing functionality on Android applications; Utilizing Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) to develop android framework and Retrofit Android library; Writing integrated test framework using Java unit testing framework (Junit), Mockito, and Espresso technologies to test codes for bugs in development phase; Utilizing RxJava to create User Interface Architecture for Android application; Utilizing Dagger to provide dependency injection across Android applications; and Building quality into the code base with unit test and UI automation tests

The starting salary for this role is expected to range from $183,310 to $183,310 on an annualized basis. 

We also expect to award a meaningful equity grant for this role. With equal quarterly vesting, your first vest date would be within the first 3 months of your start date.

Overall, total compensation will vary depending on your relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
