Meet Your Future Neighbors

As a Software Engineer, Android with Nextdoor, Inc. (San Francisco, CA) you’ll:  

• Work with cross-functional, agile teams to translate product requirements into user-facing applications that support company growth
• Understand end-users' needs and then design, develop, and test software to meet those needs
• Develop and maintain features related to search functionality on Android application
• Contribute to Android application core infrastructure to support internal libraries and upgrade build systems
• Collaborate with backend engineers to architect and deliver new features for search
• Run and analyze experiments for new features launched on platform related to search to understand their impact on overall metrics and provide suggestions to either launch or modify the features
• Apply best practices from Search back to Android co-op for universal and reusable User Interface (UI) library
• Architect applications for efficient modularization and dependency injection

What You’ll Bring to The House

• Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or closely related field
• Two (2) years of progressive, post-bachelor’s experience in the position offered or as an IT Analyst, Android Engineer, or closely related position
• Must have demonstrated experience in the following: Utilizing Agile methodology to develop software at all levels of software delivery lifecycle (requirements gathering, design, testing, development, documentation, code review); Developing and maintaining features on Android applications; Utilizing Jenkins to build Continuous Integration process to improve code stability and code quality; Utilizing Object-Oriented programming languages, including Javascript/React, Python/Django, and Kotlin, to write/modify source codes and correct defects; Utilizing object oriented modeling and design, design patterns and best coding practices to new features and enhancements for customer and servicing applications; Utilizing architecture and design to develop new features or improving existing functionality on Android applications; Utilizing OkHttp, Retrofit, and GraphQL to develop modern networking stack; and Developing Android libraries

The starting salary for this role is expected to range from $169,600 - $233,200/year on an annualized basis. 

We also expect to award a meaningful equity grant for this role. With equal quarterly vesting, your first vest date would be within the first 3 months of your start date.

Overall, total compensation will vary depending on your relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
