Primary responsibilities:
- Manage a team of individual contributors and managers by establishing clear expectations, modeling desired behavior, resolving conflicts, and providing open channels of communication and regular feedback on performance
- Mentor/coach other managers, whether formally or informally
- Ensure all direct and indirect reports clearly understand departmental expectations and have access to the training, tools, and processes required to meet schedule and quality expectations
- Maintain and strengthen nCino's award-winning culture by promoting our core values and our commitment to continuous improvement and collaboration; help identify and address cultural risks and champion new cultural initiatives across the department
- Participate in recruiting, hiring, and on-boarding a skilled and diverse team and proactively identify ways to improve these practices; assist in capacity planning and headcount forecasting
- Ensure product teams are resourced and supported in order to meet the prioritized needs of the department; proactively identify ways to increase our teams' efficiency and effectiveness
- Establish expectations for the technical quality of the product and ensure engineering staff have access to training, tools, etc. they need to produce high quality software
- Coordinate complex projects involving teams across the Product Development & Engineering department and the company
- Oversee our software development lifecycle and ensure teams have the necessary education and support to produce on time, high quality product releases
- Communicate engineering team processes and priorities to other members of PDE and other nCino departments and to stakeholders and customers as needed
- Coordinate engineering resources to resolve business-critical customer concerns
- Contribute as needed to the resolution of high-priority technical issues, especially by leading teams to a resolution, removing distractions, and coordinating the response across teams/departments
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent professional experience
Required
- 8+ years functional experience and 2+ years management experience or combination of experience, education, and extraordinary performance
- Substantial expertise in an OOP programming language such as Java, C++, C#, Apex, or Python
- Deep understanding of web application development
- Extensive professional experience in an Agile development environment and in implementing and improving Agile/Scrum practices in an enterprise-scale organization
- Proven success as a coach and mentor of technical staff
- Demonstrated dedication to quality and continuous improvement
- Ability to motivate yourself and others, prioritize your own work, and adapt and thrive in a dynamic team environment
- Excellent problem solving, decision-making, and interpersonal skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
Desired
- Experience with the Salesforce Platform, particularly developing managed packages as a part of the ISV Partner Program
- Certified Scrum Master
- Ability to travel when required

The pay range for this role is based on relative market data and alignment with our compensation philosophy. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum of the pay range for each job posting, which is used to determine new hire rates/salaries and takes into consideration multiple factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills, abilities, proficiencies, experience, education, licensures/certifications, as well as business and organizational needs. nCino reserves the right to modify the posted range consistent with our internal practices and external market movement. The recruiter for this job posting can share more compensation details during the recruitment process, as base salary is only one component of the total compensation package per position posted.
The base salary range for this job is:
