Job Description

NBCUniversal Production Engineering has an exciting opportunity for a talented individual to become Senior Systems Engineer in our Production Project Engineering department at 30 Rock.  This department supports all of the Studios & Control Rooms in a 24/7 capacity at Rockefeller Center.

Responsibilities:

  • Leading the Production Systems Infrastructure Team to stay abreast of the latest and cutting-edge broadcast technology.
  • Driving the implementation of said broadcast technology into 30 Rocks Production systems and environments.
  • Leveraging existing and new broadcast technology to create brand new systems and workflows to serve NBCU Operation Teams.
  • Perform system level design, documentation and configuration of technical facilities, including, but not limited to, control rooms, studio equipment, audio equipment, and computer equipment.
  • Create Schematics and Logic documentation for workflow and system development/support.
  • Key individual to work closely with the production and operations community to understand and discuss requirements and project needs.
  • Handling, maintaining, and prioritizing varied engineering projects both short term and long range.
  • Communicate with Entertainment & News Production communities to understand and discuss project & system requirements.
  • Create and manage handoff documentation and training with Maintenance Support and Operations Teams.
  • Act as support escalation contact for emergencies and troubleshooting as needed.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

  • BA in broadcast/production, electrical engineering, computer science, or STEM.
  • 5+ years of recent experience in a television broadcast environment.
  • Proficient with broadcast production systems, workflows, and software including SMPTE standards, Grass Valley SMPTE-2110 Products, Production Video/Audio Routers, Router Control Systems, IP Audio Consoles, Intercom Systems, Video Production Switchers, and others.
  • Solid understanding of computer networking.
  • Solid Understanding of SMPTE standards as well as core technical/plant facilities, including 2110 environments and workflows.
  • Proficient in software-driven broadcast video equipment and control systems.
  • Understanding of the 24/7 nature of the on-air News, Sports, and Entertainment environments.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working familiarity with TV engineering and broadcast video/audio transmission systems.

  • Working familiarity with TV engineering and broadcast video/audio transmission systems.
  • Proficient with broadcast production systems and software including SMPTE standards, Evertz Products, Calrec Audio Consoles, Intercom Systems, Video Switchers, and others.
  • Solid Understanding of SMPTE standards as well as core technical/plant facilities, including 2110 environments.
  • Solid understanding of computer networking.
  • Schematic design and drafting knowledge.
  • Familiarity with FPGA design and build.
  • Proficient in software-driven broadcast video equipment.

Additional Requirements:

  • Required On-Site: This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.
