Motional builds state-of-the-art fully autonomous vehicles. Building across software, hardware, vehicle, and cloud solutions for the car. The Drive-by-wire / Motion Controls team works on control algorithms development, to generate trajectory tracking control of different vehicle platforms provided by OEMs, embedded controller hardware bring up, and safety features (system health monitoring, backup controls when failure happens, redundant system design) to meet ASIL-D standards for autonomous driving.

Position:

The team is looking for a Principal Software Engineer to utilize their expertise in Embedded or Application C software development to architect and build a safe and flexible embedded system. In this role you will be developing application code for the AV including the ECU and vehicle interface.

Role responsibilities:

  • Software architecture design and development for controls modules that sit at the core of autonomous driving systems interfacing with vehicle directly
  • Experience in AutoSAR development, e.g., vector DaVinci, master in the tools and able to configure/perform software integration.
  • Familiar with vector tools, e.g., CANoe, CANalyzer, CANape, understand CAPL scripts and capable to configure/analyze log data.
  • In house expert on C coding guidelines, MISRA-C, mentor others, and support code reviews.  Actively bring up best software practices.

This team has a large reach internally and externally, partnering with many different groups which includes OEMs, embedded controller hardware bring up, and safety (system health monitoring, backup controls when failure happens, redundant system design) to meet ASIL-D standards for autonomous driving.  

Experience to bring:

  • C software development
  • 8+ years of controls experience
  • Writing code for embedded microcontrollers and debugging
  • Bench set-up and in-vehicle testing
  • Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or related fields of Study. Bachelors, with Masters or PhD beneficial.

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors including but not limited to specific skills, experience and expertise, role location, certifications, licenses, and business needs.
