MongoDB University provides free online technical education to learners around the world including individuals, customers, partners and employees.  This team builds this modern online learning experience that includes learning paths, courses, video lessons, hands-on labs, quizzes and certifications.  The goal is to have a complete catalog of courses and learning assets covering all MongoDB products and personalized for key roles including Developers, Administrators, Architects and other key personas. We believe that learning should be frictionless and ubiquitous and we strive to not only create great learning assets but also go to where learners are to make it easy for them to access and learn with us  

This team is seeking a Senior Curriculum Engineer to continue to grow the learning catalog. This role will primarily work on learning materials for employees and the same materials can then be converted for external use for all audiences. Our ideal candidate will have strong MongoDB product knowledge and an interest in being able to create high quality learning materials/videos. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work cross functionally with Operations, Certifications, Design, Product Strategy, Instructional Design, Editing and a variety of other functions to get a holistic view of the education business and how it contributes to the MongoDB ecosystem. This role is key to scaling our education content portfolio quickly and enabling our customers to experience the full power of MongoDB. 

This role can be based out of any of our offices in North America or remotely in the US.

Responsibilities 

   Internal Content

  • Create learning assets (courses, short product tour videos, videos, quizzes) covering MongoDB topics for new and existing internal employees for their onboarding and continuing education needs.  The main audience are employees that are in technical roles in the company including Engineering, Support, Pre-Sales Architects etc
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal subject-matter experts and technical teams
  • Assist in creating knowledge check questions to validate knowledge

 External Content

  • Be part of the team that create courses for external audiences
  • Create hands-on lab exercises to help learners experience Atlas and other MongoDB products. The infrastructure is already available and this role will create exercises on top of that infrastructure
  • Write certification questions to keep our exam bank refreshed
  • Collaborate with in-house subject-matter experts, instructional designers, video producers, and product and marketing managers to develop a course from discovery to launch
  • If there is interest (not a requirement), you can also represent MongoDB University and conferences and events

Qualifications 

  • 4+ years of experience with MongoDB technologies
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the MongoDB server including but not limited to CRUD, Aggregation pipelines, Indexing, and Data Modeling
  • 5+ years of experience working with SMEs, content developers, and internal stakeholders on education or other customer facing projects
  • MongoDB certification desired but not required
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully working across multiple teams
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience owning projects from strategy to execution
  • Strong organizational, critical thinking, and decision-making skills
