 Here at Modern Meadow, we are harnessing the power of design, biology, and engineering to produce a range of bioproducts. As we continue to grow we are seeking to hire an Associate Engineer to join our growing Process Technology team.

Responsibilities:

  • Understand available instrumentation and execute experiments based on established protocols or procedures with limited explanation and supervision
  • Design process optimization experiments related to material manufacturing processes and scale-up related issues
  • Responsible for capturing all lab and testing data in LIMS
  • Evaluation of new fabrication and material processing unit operations to improve manufacturing process efficiencies
  • Understanding of material performance attributes, such as tensile, modulus, tear, and abrasion to conduct analysis and make data driven decisions
  • Responsible for departmental/team presentations; Drafts SOPs and research reports with guidance
  • Responsible for maintaining scientifically current (state of the art) laboratory environment and/or product inventory.
  • Maintains accurate and complete records consistent with company policy and legal requirements
  • Keep up with the latest scientific and engineering developments by reading the current literature
  • Help facilitate projects through adherence to established project or company timelines
  • Contribute to lab equipment maintenance and safety to help create a safe, effective and efficient working environment; troubleshoots manufacturing issues by running investigations at the lab scale and pilot line facility
  • Keep up with SOP training and compliance responsibilities
  • Utilize DoE methodologies, such as JMP or Minitab
  • Provide routine production support across multiple locations

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Textile engineering or Polymer science
  • Some experience (0-2 years) in process engineering fundamentals, materials processing, textile processing or polymer processing nice to have 
  • A foundation of basic scientific and analytical principles obtained through academic training and/or experience
  • Possesses good organizational, communication, analytical, computer, and technical writing skills
  • Ability to operate in fast paced rapidly evolving environment and be proactive to learn new skills as required
  • Experience in roll to roll manufacturing processes such as coatings, textile finishing, textile dyeing or membrane manufacturing is a plus
  • Ability to provide input on experimental design for method development experiments
  • High degree of personal accountability, with the ability to work independently and deliver results within project specific timelines
  • Ability to work on site 5 days per week 

Physical Demands:

  • Lab work required for this position will involve standing for extended periods of time
  • This individual will be expected to lift approximately 50 lbs. in pilot plant work
