Sr. Software Engineer- Data Analysis

MSAI brings together research and engineering to deliver impactful user experiences. Features & Products of MSAI include Microsoft Search, M365 Chat, Cortana Assistant, Communication Intelligence like Focused Inbox, Suggested Replies, Meeting Insights, and Viva Topics among many others.

At the Data Analysis team we design, build, and operate the data pipelines for Search, Copilot, and other products. We collect and aggregate user and system events across M365 ecosystem to define and measure the quality of our products, to understand user and system behaviors, and to generate insight to drive AI innovations and product decision-making. All of these are done in a secure, compliant, and privacy-preserving manner to meet the needs of enterprise customers.

• BS/MS/Ph.D in Computer Science or related fields.
• 5+ years hands-on experience in Python, SQL, Spark for data processing and visualization.
• Hands-on experience in identifying data insights and providing recommendations to business.
• Good system design, coding, and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail, patience, and ability to work under pressure, uncertainty, and changes.
• Working level English.
• Experience in large-scale data engineering and analytics projects is preferred.
• Experience in enterprise products and compliant data handling is preferred.

We are looking for a motivated and talented engineer at senior/principal IC level, who are passionate about big data and analytics solutions that enable businesses success. The scope of work includes:

• Understand the design, code, schemas, and data flows of different products.
• Design and deliver metrics for business growth and quality improvements.
• Architect, design and implement scalable, robust, and low-cost pipeline and dashboard to report metrics movements.
• Design and implement solutions for systematic or ad hoc analysis to explain metrics movements, identify opportunities and propose improvement actions.
• Embrace both Microsoft technology (Azure Data Explore, PowerBI) and cutting-edge open-source technology (Spark/Kafka/Click House/Kylin, etc.)
• Work with world-class product manager, engineer, scientist team on Big Data, Analytics and OLAP/OLTP
• Lead, influence, and partner with members across different teams and the globe.
