Senior Software Engineer

COVID impacted education systems all over the world with ~94% of K-12 schools experiencing closures and the need for distance learning solutions. In response, Microsoft has worked with tens of thousands of customers enabling hundreds of millions of students and teachers with Teams and M365, helping schools make Distance Learning successful in the most trying of circumstances. With the rapid advent of generative artificial intelligence (AI), districts want to make sure students have access to the newest tools and technologies – but with safety and responsibility in play. School Data Sync enables educational institutions ranging from a single school to an entire country to enable Microsoft technologies for their entire students and faculty.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
  • OR equivalent experience.
• 2+ years of experience with maintaining a shipped product or service
• 2+ years of experience designing systems and processes for running services at scale, drive cost & operational efficiency, Continuous Integration, Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) methodology and being responsible for end-to-end quality of the service experience 

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
  • OR equivalent experience.
• Experience in C#, C/C++ or other high-level programming languages
• Experience writing test automation and other tools
• Effective written and verbal communication skills 
• Experience with large data processing using Spark or similar technologies 

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year.
