Description
The Virtual Machines and Containers team is looking for talented software engineers to develop Microsoft's versatile, performance critical, and secure virtualization platform.  We are looking for enthusiastic candidates who can learn quickly, have a passion for writing high quality software, and enjoy working within a dynamic team.
 
Join us and help build Microsoft’s intelligent cloud.  The Hyper-V technology we build enables much more than traditional virtual machines; it powers Microsoft’s containers, millions of servers in the Azure cloud, and is a core part of security enforcement in the Windows operating system across a wide ecosystem of devices.  Collaborate with developers across Microsoft, hardware partners, and the open source community to deliver innovative technology in the virtualization space.
 
Our team develops core functionality in Hyper-V such as the management and orchestration interfaces that provides access to the virtualization capabilities in the Windows operating system to clients ranging from the Azure Cloud, on-premises Windows Server users, all the way to scenarios such as the Windows Subsystem for Linux. These features also include VM Live Migration that enables a variety of availability and optimization scenarios by seamlessly moving running VMs between machines in a datacenter.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of development experience
  • 4+ years of development experience in Go, Rust, C or C++
  • BS in Computer Science or 4+ years of experience in systems programming

 

Preferred Qualifications
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Solid design skills and implementation experience
  • Excellent coding, debugging, testing, and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of systems software
  • Experience with virtualization, containers, networking, storage and security
 
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings:
Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter
