We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our team! Windows operating systems are currently running on the most diverse set of hardware in the world, including enterprise and consumer computers, gaming consoles, factory automation and monitoring systems, VR and AI devices, and the foundation operating system of Azure - on over 900+ million computers around the world.  The Azure Edge and Platform Engineering System and Security Services team offers the opportunity to work on secure hybrid cloud implementations that enables the development and validation of Windows, XBOX, etc.; the scale of platforms and services on which we work are among the largest in the industry.

 

Join the Microsoft Debugger Platform team and help us on our mission to ensure that every device, product, and service using Windows, Linux, Android, MacOS, and everything in between can be debugged and crashes diagnosed! We build industry leading tools and components that support post-mortem, time-travel, and live debugging. We ship our own set of products such as our debugger (WinDbg) and kernel debugger (KD), and we also power other Microsoft products and services such as Visual Studio, crash debugging for Azure services and other Microsoft products (Watson/Azure Watson), and automatic crash analysis (“!analyze”). Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

o OR equivalent experience.

  • 4+ years of experience in Rust, C, C++, or an equivalent systems programming language

 

Other Requirements: 

  • Cloud Background check: Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

 

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

o OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

o OR equivalent experience.

  • Experience with C# and WPF or a willingness to learn
  • Ability and willingness to quickly learn about new areas
  • Solid communication skills, especially for interactions with cross division teams
  • Projects demonstrating experience in one or more stage of development cycle: design, implementation, deployment, and live site
  • Passionate about diversity and inclusion initiatives
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering or related fields or 5+ years of equivalent experience.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills

 

 

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year.
