Senior Software Engineer

We are the Microsoft Store team, part of the Microsoft AI organization. Our team’s vision is for Store to be the preferred place to discover and acquire high quality apps and games which users need most; and for Developers & ISVs (Independent Software Vendors) to be excited to build Windows apps and games because they can innovate, differentiate, and exceed their business goals on Windows. We are also leveraging AI technologies to enhance customer and developer experiences on the Microsoft Store! You will be a member of a growing team that builds high scale, secure, reliable, low latency Cloud services that power the Microsoft App Store experience that runs on 1.5 billion Windows devices worldwide!  

Skills required 

• 8+ years of experience working on large scale services 
• Exceptional teamwork and values that foster a positive team culture  
• Experience in collaborating with teams across different time zones and geographies 
• Strong and applied knowledge of object-oriented programming languages such as C# and .NET 
• Strong and applied knowledge of Cloud services infrastructure, frameworks, and technologies such as Azure Cloud Services, Azure Service Fabric, ASP.NET Core 2, .Net Framework, NuGet packages, and Git 
• Knowledge of common services design patterns and application development best practices 
• Demonstrated ability to ramp up on both new and old technologies 
• Ability to modernize and evolve components used by millions without service interruption 
• Experience in working within an agile software development team, leveraging experimentation and prototyping, while continuing to measure and iterate 
• Proven fundamental understanding of how to deliver end-to-end scenarios with security, reliability, and engineering quality in mind 
• Ability to learn and work effectively in a highly ambiguous, rapidly evolving environment 
• Full stack development with knowledge of front-end skills is a great value add!  

Skills preferred  

• Proficiency in RESTful web services technologies  
• Proficiency in NoSQL data storage systems and patterns 
• Knowledge of the latest data storage, analysis, and visualization systems (CosmosDB, PowerBI) 
• Nice to have - Knowledge of specific technologies such as Azure Cloud Services, Azure Service Fabric, ASP.NET Core 2, .Net Framework, NuGet packages, Git, Service Bus, Event Hub, Data Factory, Tables/Queues/Blobs, SQL, Key Vault, Application Insights

You will be an experienced cloud services engineering lead who builds services to support app submission, app discovery and content management experiences. You will be a strong technical leader who is committed to creating clarity, generating energy, and delivering success. You will be working on challenging technical problems involving Cloud Services and deliver growth for the Microsoft Store. You will provide direction to the feature team through breaking down service specs and architecture, and work across multiple disciplines to make implementation decisions. In your role you will work with peers across program management and software engineering to launch new experiences that integrate with existing systems. Ability to ramp up on new code from Partner teams and help collaborate with them will be a great asset!
