Senior Software Engineer

The Azure Data Backplane team is looking for people who are interested in developing a state-of-the-art platform that spans multiple clouds, hosts open source and Microsoft database engines, and enables touch-free deployment to and configuration of millions of databases in a fast, safe, and reliable way.  The platform provides full lifecycle services involving deployment, upgrade, high availability, disaster recovery, supportability, and management end-to-end.

We are hiring software engineers to help design and implement the technologies that will enable Microsoft to tackle a new set of enterprise and cloud problems.

Basic Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or mathematics  

• 8+ years of development experience with C++, Java, or other object-oriented programming languages
• Good exposure to scripting languages like Python and C#  
• Building and setting up new development tools and infrastructure 
   

Preferred Qualifications: 

• 8+ years of experience in designing and developing production-quality software using C/C++; proven experience in improving product reliability.
• Extensive and specialized knowledge in the software release process and automation.
• Demonstrated technical leadership in a strong collaborative environment.

• Strong problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication skills
