Senior Software Engineer

Microsoft Azure Storage is a highly distributed, massively scalable, and ubiquitously accessible cloud storage platform. Azure storage already runs at Exascale (storing Exabytes of data) and we will scale our designs over the next decade to support Zettascale (storing Zettabytes of data). As a Senior Software Engineer in Azure Storage, you will be designing and implementing protocols and features for data durability, availability, scalability, and performance of backend distributed block storage. Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
  • OR equivalent experience.
• Solid foundation in data structures and algorithms with experience in testing, debugging, and analytical skills.
  

Other Requirements:

• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science
  • OR related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript,
  • OR Python
  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
  • OR equivalent experience.
• Experiences in designing and building large scale distributed systems. 
• Experiences in cloud backend development and operations, including performance, reliability, resiliency, and scale-out.
• Experiences with multi-threaded programming.
• Ability to plan, schedule and deliver quality software.
  
• Good communication and collaboration skills.

• Collaborates with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a set of scenarios.
