In the Senior Electrical Standards Engineer, Datacenter Critical Environment role, you will have an opportunity to work alongside a dynamic team of industry professionals across the Critical Environments (CE) spectrum within Microsoft’s 24x7x365 mission-critical data centers. You will be serving as a mission critical electrical infrastructure subject-matter-expert with accountabilities that include, but are not limited to, development, maintenance, and delivery of global programs relating to electrical infrastructure. These programs include maintenance, operations, and technical standards. You will monitor the execution of these programs and identify opportunities for continuous improvements. You will be expected to leverage your industry experience along with knowledge from industry governing bodies in developing these programs. You will be expected to document and implement best practices and learnings from the field as they apply to Microsoft’s global mission critical electrical infrastructure.

Required Qualifications:

  • 12+ years relevant technical project management, program management, mission-critical electrical infrastructure operations and maintenance, or electrical engineering experience
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years technical project management, program management, mission-critical electrical infrastructure operations and maintenance, or electrical engineering experience
    • OR Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years technical project management, program management, mission-critical electrical infrastructure operations and maintenance, or electrical engineering experience
    • OR Doctorate Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field AND 2+ years technical project management, program management, mission-critical electrical infrastructure operations and maintenance, or electrical engineering experience.
  • 2+ years of experience working in a large-scale mission critical facility
  • 2+ years of experience in Program/Project Management 

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience creating and/or executing large-scale critical infrastructure maintenance and reliability programs.
  • Ability to create clear, consistent, and understandable technical documentation to be leveraged by partner teams.
  • Ability to manage, prioritize and successfully execute multiple concurrent mission-critical projects and communicate effectively to drive standards and consensus across multiple levels of the organization.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE), Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP), Professional Engineer (PE), Chartered Engineer (CEng), or Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • Experience in management, engineering, or operations of hyperscale datacenter critical environments.
  • Ability to analyze large sets of data utilizing PowerBI.

Reliability Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year.
