Microsoft Hardware Infrastructure Fundamentals Engineering team (HIFE) is the team behind Microsoft’s expanding Cloud Infrastructure and responsible for powering Microsoft’s “Intelligent Cloud” mission. To achieve this goal, the Manufacturing Test Engineering Team (MTE) is instrumental in defining and delivering operational measures of success for hardware manufacturing, improving the hardware quality, delivery, scale and sustainability related to Microsoft cloud hardware. We are looking for a seasoned software development manager with a strong passion for customer focused solutions, insight, and industry knowledge to envision and implement future software solutions that will manage and optimize the Cloud infrastructure.

 

This position is for a Principal SW Manager for our Manufacturing Diagnostics team developing a CI/CD cloud application which supports stress, functional, integration, and validation tests running remotely at our System Integrators

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering (Hardware) or related field AND 8+ years enterprise computer, consumer electronics design or hyperscale supply chain systems experience
    • OR Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering (Hardware) or related field, AND 4+ years of enterprise computer, consumer electronics design or hyperscale supply chain systems experience
    • OR Doctorate in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering (Hardware) or related field AND 3+ years of enterprise computer, consumer electronics design or hyperscale supply chain systems experience
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of people management experience.
  • 6+ years experience in complex Python OOP and Linux operating systems.
  • Familiar with CPU or GPU test tool development, direct experience in incorporating them into manufacturing test flows.
  • Knowledge of rack level test framework and methodologies is a must.
  • Strong capability in troubleshooting with engineering team on manufacturing related issues with test systems and storage enclosure products.
  • Working knowledge of computer subsystems, component interfaces, add-on boards, electronic test equipment.
  • Ability to navigate through ambiguities and concepts and realize it to practical process or flows.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally across a range of technical disciplines.
  • Must be willing to travel, domestic & international and to work off hours to support business.

 

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering (Hardware) or related field AND 12+ years enterprise computer, consumer electronics design or hyperscale supply chain systems experience
    • OR Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering (Hardware) or related field AND 8+ years enterprise computer, consumer electronics design or hyperscale supply chain systems experience
    • OR Doctorate in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering (Hardware) or related field AND 5+ years enterprise computer, consumer electronics design or hyperscale supply chain systems experience
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of people management experience.
  • 8+ years’ Python OOP scripting programming experience is preferred.
  • Experience in SW test development and proficiency on any kinds of source code control tool.
  • Understanding the design and manufacturing process at the PCBA and enclosure level.
  • Familiar with Azure DevOps Services, Business Intelligence tools, or Power Automate tools.

  • Drive test optimizations to increase manufacturing throughput and reduce the cost without compromising product quality level.
  • Able to take on difficult challenges and communicate across organizational boundaries.
  • Interface with internal reliability and qualification teams to drive parity between test coverage from reliability and qualification to manufacturing.
  • Develop and maintain documentation on process or procedures within MDaaS Core team and with its internal/ external partners.
  • Build a highly productive engineering team by hiring and retaining top talent.
