The Application Identities Platform Team belongs to the Microsoft Entra organization (formerly called Azure Active Directory), which offers the Identity platform for Microsoft 365, Azure, and many software companies and helps them create cloud services that are secure and reliable. Our team's role is to make it easy for developers to give their applications an identity that can be verified and granted access to resources. We also provide experiences for administrators and end users that help them to make smart and secure authorization choices when they need to let applications access their data. We solve highly complex problems in the critically important cloud security space. We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer who can help us architect. implement, and deliver high-quality and high-scale cloud services that meet the needs of our customers and partners. Required/Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

                        o OR equivalent experience.

• 6+ years of software engineering experience, preferably in cloud services or distributed systems.
• 6+ years of  experience in architecting and designing complex software systems or services.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 10+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

                       o OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field

• Experience in leading v-teams towards delivering complex projects.
• Proficient coding skills in C#, Java, or another object-oriented language and the ability to transfer those skills to other engineers.
• Professional communication, collaboration, problem-solving skills, and ability to drive changes across multiple organizations.
• Passion for learning new technologies and domains, and for delivering high-quality software that makes a difference.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:  

• Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. 

Software Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 - $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 - $282,200 per year.
