Principal Software Engineer

The Web Data Platform (WDP) team deals with building and managing the most comprehensive and fresh internet index, processing and storing Peta bytes of data with very low latency.   

Our team invented and pioneered industry leading protocols such as Indexnow.org, sitemaps.org and leads the efforts to enhance and manage the corresponding areas for content discovery and updates at scale. 

We own and manage data processing pipelines at Web scale such as processing and obtaining insights from sitemaps for all of world wide web, pioneered and built an alternative internet discovery protocol IndexNow. 

 We also built, manage, and evolve high scale consumers facing web master tools for site owners and SEO agencies, Internal web-based tools to that engineers across Bing love to use to obtain site and URL level insights.   

This is a team that has ambitious long-term goals to become a center of excellence for enabling Webmaster experiences and Internet discovery in the WDP area. This position offers greater opportunities to learn and contribute to high scale features.

The WWE Team is part of Microsoft’s India Development Centre (IDC) in Hyderabad, this team is responsible for driving the overall strategy in search and AI Platforms – spanning consumer and enterprise customers. The team’s constant endeavor is to nurture an innovative, inclusive culture to enable one to build finely crafted Search & AI products and grow to be a leader. It is home to one of the largest groups of machine learning and AI talent, not just in IDC, but all of India.

• Master’s or B.S. in Computer science, with 10+ years of demonstrable experience in designing and building high scale consumer facing web applications. 
•  Proficiency in distributed architectures, capacity planning. 
•  Provide technical leadership and product vision for the team 
• Technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or TypeScript. Experience in web development using ReactJS or Angular. 
•  Drive a strong engineering culture, contributing to growth of technical skills in the team and a growth mindset. 
• Knowledge to Building generative AI Apps, Chat Bots and conversational experiences is a plus.

• Develop and deploy innovative Web based features and reimagined experiences for a large consumer base.  

• Collaborates with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a scenario.
• Lead efforts and discussions for the architecture. 

• Lead efforts to collect, classify, and analyze complex data and analyses on a range of metrics. Refinement of products through data analytics and make informed decisions in engineering products through data integration. 

• Act as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) and guides other engineers by developing and following the playbook, working on call to monitor system/product/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions, alerting stakeholders about status and initiates actions to restore system/product/service for simple and complex problems when appropriate.
