Job Title: SOM - Lead Solution Architect

Work location: Irving, TX / Alpharetta, GA / The Woodlands, TX / Richmond, VA / Columbus, OH

Current Need

The Lead Solution Architect spearheads the definition of architecture principles, steering technology decisions, and ensuring their harmony with business objectives. With a robust background in reporting and analytics, you'll drive the conception and execution of cutting-edge, scalable solutions for our organization. Your leadership extends to guiding a team of architects and fostering close collaboration with stakeholders, ensuring the delivery of solutions that harness the forefront of technology and industry best practices.

Position Description

  • Define and communicate the strategic architecture vision, principles, and standards to align with business goals, emphasizing reporting and analytics requirements.
  • Lead the design and architecture of complex software solutions, considering scalability, reliability, security, and performance, while integrating robust reporting and analytics capabilities.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, tools, and frameworks to drive innovation and improvement within our tech stack.
  • Collaborate closely with business stakeholders, product owners, developers, and other architects to understand requirements, prioritize initiatives, and drive consensus on technical solutions, incorporating reporting and analytics needs.
  • Provide expertise and guidance on the Java programming language, SQL databases, Snowflake data platform, SAP systems, and Looker analytics platform.
  • Identify potential risks and technical debt in the architecture and propose mitigation strategies to ensure long-term maintainability and scalability.
  • Mentor and coach junior architects and developers, fostering a culture of learning, collaboration, and innovation in reporting and analytics-driven architecture design and implementation.
  • Establish governance processes to ensure compliance with architectural principles and standards.

Minimum Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience in software architecture, with a focus on enterprise-scale solutions and a background in reporting and analytics.

Critical Skills

  • Experience in software architecture, with a focus on enterprise-scale solutions and a background in reporting and analytics.
  • Strong expertise in Java programming language, SQL databases, Snowflake data platform, SAP systems, and Looker analytics platform, with a deep understanding of reporting and analytics concepts and tools.
  • Proven experience leading architecture design and implementation efforts, with a track record of delivering successful projects on time and within budget.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, particularly in reporting and analytics contexts.
  • Experience working in agile environments and familiarity with agile methodologies.

Additional Knowledge & Skills

  • Knowledge of and experience in the Healthcare industry is a plus.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with respect to documentation.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication competency.
  • Excellent critical thinking and diagnostic aptitude.
  • High capacity to manage multiple priorities.
  • Exhibit a strong sense of urgency and ownership for task/project completion.
  • Strong leadership skills that inspire team confidence and respect while motivating team members
  • in a creative and effective manner.
  • Experience in managing and working with distributed team members.
  • Desire for achieving excellence in customer satisfaction, process and product quality
  • and reliability.

Education

  • 4-year degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience

As part of Total Rewards, we are proud to offer a competitive compensation package at McKesson. This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. In addition to base pay, other compensation, such as an annual bonus or long-term incentive opportunities may be offered. 

Our Base Pay Range for this position

$145,700 - $242,900
