VP, Hardware Engineering

As the VP of Hardware Engineering you will lead a group of brilliant and high performing individuals and leaders, driving a roadmap that further establishes Markforged at the forefront of Additive Manufacturing. Markforged is a leader in multiple additive technologies focused on industrial applications.  It was the inventor of the only additive printer able to create Carbon fiber reinforced parts and has developed a strong ecosystem of materials, hardware and system level and cloud based software.  Drive the future of distributed manufacturing as it drives velocity, efficiency, and economy for our customers and the world.

What will you own?

• Lead, manage, and guide the Hardware engineering teams in close partnership with Operations and Business leaders.
• Manage engineering execution to ensure continuous improvement of our systems.
• Act as the technical authority for our Hardware; balancing design, risks, budget, and schedule with product, system engineering, and manufacturing teams.   
• Prioritize and evaluate the work generated by our team in order to ensure effective and on time delivery of our products.
• Design, implement, and monitor all operations and key performance metrics/operational efficiency for the Hardware team.
• Create structured and concise documentation, including partner-ready presentations, process flows, root cause analyses, status reports, and other materials.
• Acquire deep understanding of Markforged’s business needs. 
• Coach team members to achieve outsize results through career, skill and personal development.
• Provide engineering leadership and mentoring to coordinate design, analysis, and systems engineering processes throughout development, verification, delivery and operation.
• Drive new technology efforts in intelligent systems that will drive customer value and ease of use.

What you have:

• 15+ years of progressive hardware experience.  
• 5+ years leading multiple disciplinary teams preferably in mechanical engineering and electrical engineering
• Expertise in selecting and commercializing sensor technology including computer vision a plus
• Track record of new product launches and implementations
• Experience supporting and interacting with C Level Staff
• Experience leading in a hybrid software/hardware company 
• Experience managing a globally distributed team is a nice to have

**This role is located at our corporate HQ at 60 Tower Rd, in Waltham, MA. Since we have many engineers who are at our offices 5 days a week working on our ground breaking technology, we expect our leaders to be thoughtful about their presence in the office as well.
