About LeydenJar

LeydenJar is a high-tech company, developing pure silicone anodes for a lithium-ion battery that will change the world. We are proud that, here at LeydenJar, we:

• boost Li-ion battery energy density by 70% by using 10x thinner anodes
• improved cycle life to >450
• achieved fast charging to 60% in under 10 min!

We are currently still in an R&D phase, but we are ready to start the actual production of anode foil. LeydenJar Plant One will open in 2026.

About the job

As an intern in the equipment team, you will be instrumental in pushing the boundaries of modelling at LeydenJar. You will work towards developing a network modelling tool set for high Knudsen numbers after which you can perform measurements to validate the model. At LeydenJar we believe in validation of claims before arriving at conclusions. 

To succeed in this role you will need to have a strong background in coding, preferably in Python, you also need to have a good understanding of fluid dynamics & thermodynamics. You will report to the Senior Vacuum System Engineer.

Your primary location must be Eindhoven and it is acceptable to work remotely for one day a week. The duration of the internship would be a minimum of 6 months and must be required by your university. 

Your tasks include, but are not limited to:

• Developing a 1D steady state & transient network model
• Conducting a literature survey of experimental datasets to validate available techniques for vacuum modelling
• Validate the models with experiments
• Perform sensitivity studies on the variables
• Share a final report of the findings

About you:

• You are currently in the process of completing your Master’s studies in the Netherlands and are required to complete an internship as part of your studies. 
• You have prior experience or classwork in programming, or a strong drive to learn.
• You have fluent English reading and writing skills.
• You have a strong sense of curiosity and enjoy systems building.
• Bonus points for interest in the energy transition and novel battery technologies.
