We are now looking for a Senior Engineer, Mechanics, Slings and Safeties to join one of the Elevator mechanics and Light Materials Tribe agile teams for designing hoisting mechanical components, mechanical safety devices in the group of mechanical engineers who are developing and maintaining the slings and safety components at KONE Technology and Innovation / R&D in Hyvinkää, Finland.

Our tribe works in a hybrid model meaning that work is conducted partly from home office and partly from KONE Finland Hyvinkää office. Work can however also be fully conducted from Hyvinkää office alone, if more suitable for the candidate. Please notice that this role does require the selected candidate to live permanently in Finland.

Elevator Mechanics and Light Materials tribe is responsible of developing all mechanical elevator components in KONE portfolio globally and ensuring the safety, quality and performance of those components throughout their entire lifecycle. We are actively scouting for opportunities to create new value to our customers by implementing new innovative and more sustainable elevator designs. Senior Engineer, Mechanics has a crucial role in engineering work and ensuring added customer value.

As a Senior Engineer, Mechanics, you will

Create technical solutions by using applicable design tools

  • Create design ideas and proposals fulfilling requirements or specifications

  • Develops competitive solutions and generate ideas collaborating with colleagues

  • Document design and product structure creation as per applicable guidelines and tools

  • Ensures compliance with applicable legal requirement, like codes & standards

  • Ensures design is carried out within given schedule and according to quality targets

  • Verify and validate own and team member’s designs and assist them with problem solving

Implement components

  • Experienced user of 3D/2D modelling

  • Develop concept, mock-ups and protos to validate design

  • Implement design into operations

Maintain components

  • Create proposal for changing existing designs in CR-process

  • Execute corrective or preventive actions when appropriate

Ways of working

  • Follows KONE solution creation and lean & agile practices

  • Adopt Agile ways of working as applicable, including quarterly and sprint planning

  • Identify and report technical and schedule risks

  • Create and maintain product data according to design and PCM/PDM guidelines

  • Support with leading new design and change request initiatives forward within the global organization

  • Develop own and colleagues’ capabilities and knowhow among daily engineering work

  • Collaborate closely with other agile teams, R&D tribes and functions

To be successful in this position, you will 

  • Be able to lead new design and change request initiatives forward in the organization

  • Possess a curious mindset and a strong desire on the way to customer benefit

  • Capable to review designs, collaborate and think innovative ways when assisting junior mechanical engineers during their work

Following skills are asset

  • Earlier experience on working with Windchill, Creo and VariPDM

  • Have good understanding on elevator components mechanical designs and criterion of load bearing structures and cost-efficient manufacturing methods

  • Experience of lean and agile ways of working

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or similar

  • Good skills in both written and spoken English
