As a Lead Software Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the development and optimisation of our software applications, with a strong focus on scalability, reliability, and performance. You will be at the helm of driving technical decisions, managing projects, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality code. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership abilities, and a forward-thinking approach to handle challenges effectively and contribute to the strategic direction of our engineering efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Kafka Expertise: Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of Kafka, including its configuration, traffic management, and the production/consumption of topics.
  • Node.js, TypeScript, and Jest Proficiency: Possess deep understanding and hands-on experience with Node.js, TypeScript, and Jest for building and testing applications.
  • Database Mastery: Show expert-level knowledge of databases, especially PostgreSQL and DynamoDB, including design, optimisation, and management.
  • Project Leadership: Lead projects with a self-driven approach, managing stakeholders, anticipating technical debt, and crafting a technical roadmap to navigate and mitigate these challenges efficiently.
  • Mentorship and Collaboration: Mentor colleagues, enhancing team capabilities, and fostering a collaborative environment. Conduct demos, presentations, and contribute to the creation of comprehensive documentation.
  • Quality and Testing: Uphold a strong commitment to quality through extensive knowledge of testing methodologies and an unwavering attention to detail.

  • Proven ability to navigate complex organizational dynamics and build consensus among stakeholders with differing viewpoints.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with other engineering teams, product management, design, and operations to ensure our technology stack integrates seamlessly
  • Strategic Technical Leadership: Play a pivotal role in shaping the technological direction of the team by contributing to the strategic planning and decision-making processes.
