SDET - Staff Software Engineer in Test

About the role:

We are looking for an experienced ‘Staff Software Engineer in Test’ to join our Commerce Team at Datto. Reporting to the Senior Manager you will lead, design and automate the testing of the Commerce web application as well as the numerous components that comprise the Commerce platform. You will also identify opportunities for process, tools and test methodology improvements and assist with the implementation of initiatives and ideas. As mentioned above we work in a very agile environment, so a pragmatic approach to testing is key. It’s expected that most of the new features and fixes will be manually tested prior to release, with the plan to automate testing later, where appropriate.

About the person:

You are an engineer at heart who understands and develops code, with a focus on Quality. You are comfortable taking ownership of the testing domain, and can provide feedback to the development team, on effective design and implementation of unit and integration tests. You will have solid experience with testing solutions in the Cloud, and with API, security and load testing. You stay up to date with the latest testing tools and test strategies.

Duties:

· Take ownership and responsibility for the design and development of all aspects of automated testing along with creation, execution and maintenance of automated scripts.

· Develop tests using the following technologies: C# .Net, ASP.Net, SQL Server Databases, Java Script, HTML and CSS, Entity Framework (EF) and LINQ

· Combine tests into targeted test suites (Azure DevOps)

· Collaborate with Development team to ensure tests are an integral part of every build and release

· Champion unit and integration tests

· Ensure application usability, functionality, security and performance

· Perform manual testing for where required to ensure timely updates to production

· Participate in daily stand-ups as integral member of the development team

Experience:

· Good experience with C# .Net, frameworks, MVC, SQL Server Databases, Java Script, HTML and CSS, Entity Framework (EF)

· Should be very familiar with Visual Studio, GIT and Azure in general

· Experience with Azure DevOps especially around Test Plans and Boards

· Experience in testing web sites, Azure functions as well as API / Services

· Good experience with Selenium or other UI Testing tool

· Experience with designing test cases and test suites

· Experience of performance testing would be advantageous

· Experience of security testing a bonus

· Experience with mutant testing will be favored highly

· Testing and writing LINQ code a bonus

· Strong analytical, troubleshooting skills and creative problem-solving abilities

· Educated to degree level or equivalent professional experience.
