Job Description

Primary Function of Position: The Senior Industrial Engineer enhances processes, drives improvements, manages projects, mentors staff, and requires experience and track record.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Manage projects in Industrial Engineering, including design reviews, capacity scrutiny, and new product development. Manage new facility startups.
  • Use skills to solve challenges. Find new solutions within company.
  • Evaluate operations, find improvements, examine data for business cases. Monitor metrics like labor hours, WIP, and productivity to improve operations with process owners.
  • Examine work cell layout, processes, and material flow. Recommend cost-effective solutions for improvement. Manage projects to improve costs and quality.
  • Successfully initiate and manage significant change, managing resistance across impacted teams and take action to reinforce the change effort.
  • Study scenarios, share results with senior management. Assess long-range capacity forecasts and recommend adjustments for facilities, equipment, and workforce needs.
  • Coordinate large building or multi-cell layout changes. Utilize knowledge and experience to drive optimization of physical space to meet requirements.
  • Run structured technical problem solving investigations and utilize data driven scrutiny to provide recommendations and solutions to achieve improvement.
  • Train in time standards, line balancing, simulation modeling, cost estimation, workforce planning, and continuous improvement tasks.
  • May design metrics, calculation methods and/or data collection and reporting systems.
  • May build advanced models from the ground up.
  • May maintain existing reports or dashboards as required.

Qualifications

Skills, Experience, Education, & Training:

Base Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree required in Industrial Engineering or related discipline, and 6 years minimum of applicable, progressive work experience.
  • Proven verbal communication, group presentation skills and facilitation skills required.
  • Emotionally intelligent, reading the room\/others, charismatic, self-assured
  • Proficient general software and data analysis skills required (e.g. Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.)
  • Capable of defining requirements for new metrics/visualizations and capable of translating data into insights and learnings and influencing action plans.
  • High level of proficiency as a project manager. (equivalent experience of a certified project manager)
  • Ability to manage moderate to large cultural and behavioral change management initiatives successfully.
  • Proven ability to manage many projects concurrently and in a timely fashion.
  • Defining and leading the implementation of Lean Manufacturing programs.
  • Understands implications of change and can work within Quality Systems.
  • Minimal travel required (<10%).

Preferred Requirements

  • Advanced data analysis skillset (e.g. Tableau, VBA, R, etc.) preferred.
  • Simulation modeling experience (e.g. Simul8, Arena, etc) preferred.
  • Experience working in medical device manufacturing and knowledge of industry regulations preferred.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification with project experience preferred.
  • New Product Development/Introduction experience preferred.
  • Facility design and construction management experienced preferred.
