Job Description

Primary Function of Position 

The Manager of Vision Requirements Engineering will be responsible for leading a team of engineers to document requirements for, development of, and testing of vision product families consisting of endoscopes, illumination and image processing modules, and manufacturing processes.  This leader will build an infrastructure to assure compliance to all applicable regulations and processes, drive improvements in our quality processes, and support international release of Intuitive vision products.

The role requires an ability to drive improvements in processes while simultaneously using existing processes to release vision products with optimal reliability, quality, and cost. This key technical management role will guide and mentor a talented requirements engineering organization responsible for driving quality through adherence to our processes and driving improvements to the processes themselves.  Additionally, this Requirements Engineering team works collaboratively with the Design teams and Regulatory teams to enable international release of our products.

Represent the design control and risk management function at a leadership level within the MP vision organization and lead design assurance/req engineering team.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives for design control and risk management documentation related to MP vision products on both new and sustained product lines.

Work with MP vision PMO to develop a roadmap for official design control and risk management function as a partner on MCF and CAF projects.

Work with design control and risk management team members to develop roadmap for QIP implementation in the MP vision organization.

In conjunction with design control and risk management team members in MP vision org, develop and present training content on QIP initiative as well as other design control and risk management topics for continued education of all org members.

  • Demonstrated ability to distill the requirements into clear goals and actions for the team that deliver improved products for our customers in a timely manner

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience 

  • Track record of leading and developing sustainable teams

Required Education and Training 

  • B.S. degree in Engineering discipline, M.S. preferred.
  • 1-3 years’ experience managing an engineering team.
  • 8-10 years’ experience in design, manufacturing, or service environment for complex electro-mechanical products.

Preferred Skills and Experience 

  • Prior experience in medical device design and manufacturing
  • Excellent organizational skills; Able to manage multiple fast-paced projects
  • Prior experience with Agile Change Control and SAP
  • Experience in an ISO 13485, ISO 9001, or medical device manufacturing environment
