We are looking for an experienced Ruby on Rails Developer to join our highly skilled finance engineering team. 

The finance engineering team makes sure that Groupon merchants receive their payment on time and accurately. We are constantly making improvements to ensure automated accounting and payments that can scale with the business. 


You’ll spend time on the following:

  • Implementing, testing, deploying code changes, and providing production support in biweekly iterations

  • Conduct code reviews, testing, and debugging to ensure software quality and reliability

  • Participate in Agile/Scrum development processes, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives

  • Monitoring service health, and addressing internal message errors and inconsistent workflows that directly impact invoicing (merchant payments)

  • Collaborating with Product and Engineering management to understand requirements and design flexible solutions for our global systems

  • Keep up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends to continuously improve software development processes and practices

We’re excited about you if you have:

  • 5+ years of experience with Ruby on Rails (AND Ruby)

  • Basics of metaprogramming in Ruby 

  • Understanding concepts of concurrency and parallelism, or at least experience with multithreading

  • Basic experience with cloud (AWS, GCP or Azure), basic experience with Kubernetes

  • Experience with the Agile development lifecycle.

  • Knowledge Jenkins and Git

  • Good Understanding of Databases (MySQL, Postgres, etc..).

  • Knowledge of REST APIs

  • Experience with caching tools (E.g. Memcache, Redis)

  • You have strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities. 

  • You possess excellent communication skills that facilitate interaction with multiple stakeholders.

  • You are confident, detail-oriented, and highly motivated to contribute to the growth of the organization as part of a high-performing team.

  • You have the ability to work under pressure and adhere to tight deadlines.
