Heartland School Solutions is looking for a driven, energetic Project Manager to work remotely in Los Angeles on a long-term contract that is slated to last 18 months. The Project Manager is responsible for a large-scale customer implementation of HSS products as well as other initiatives that would benefit from formal project management. Duties include planning and directing project schedules, compiling project status reports, managing project meetings, and identifying/resolving risks and issues. In this role, you will work alongside a team of Implementation, Training Specialists, Product Specialist, Software Development teams, and Leadership to ensure customer success. You will be responsible for creating an implementation plan for the client; building relationships and interacting with the client daily, creating and maintaining documentation and deliverables to assist the client with transitioning to the new software, as well as building client databases. This position requires great attention to detail. In this role, you will report directly to the Director of Professional Services.

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Managing the implementation of external projects. Setting up and directing project/program schedules and budgets. Monitoring project/program from initiation through delivery or completion, interfacing with customers. Coordinating/organizing interdepartmental activities, ensuring completion of the specific project/program on schedule and within budget constraints.

  • Leading others to solve complex problems where significant initiative and independent judgment are required

  • Developing and presenting project communications to influence key internal and external stakeholders (e.g., executive leaders, vendors, suppliers, and contractors), while serving as the liaison to and partner with the project/program sponsor 

  • Setting project/program expectations and implementation plans, monitoring success against business objectives, and recommending adjustments to approach in response to changing business needs 

  • Leading cross-functional, cross-business project teams and teams of project managers

  • Developing proposals and establishing business cases for projects/programs, including identifying, securing, and coordinating resources and building leadership consensus around objectives

  • Interface and manage project resources located in various offices around the nation, in multiple time zones

  • Negotiating with stakeholders and sponsors to set expectations and build consensus around project objectives

  • Request, prepare, and compile documents for data entry

  • Check source documents for accuracy, certify data, and correct data where necessary

Project Management

  • Expected to Manage a Large Implementation Project for a School District of 850+ buildings

  • Manage/Own - the implementation process until Go-Live is completed

  • Proactively keep client engaged and informed via email and phone

  • Identify and resolve any issues or roadblocks

  • Comply with data integrity and security policies

  • Meet scheduled project delivery dates 

Qualifications / Skills:

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of cross-functional, cross-disciplinary project management and business analysis experience in Technology or Software related fields

  • Knowledge of the key components of project management (e.g., scope, time, cost, quality, human resources, communication, risk, integration) and associated tools and methodologies 

  • Experience managing complex projects, with multi-month/year timelines 

  • Expected to be able to implement Heartland's MCS product

  • Ability to communicate effectively over the phone, online as a presenter, and in writing

  • Ability to work effectively within and across all departments within the organization

  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational, and problem-solving skills

  • Self-motivated with excellent research skills

  • Ability to commit to, and execute on schedule

  • Basic understanding of Microsoft SQL databases is a plus 

  • Required to travel within the Los Angeles Unified School District to visit school sites as needed

  • Willing to travel based on customer and business needs (2-3 times a year)

  • Knowledge of computers, general networking concepts, internet usage, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)

    • Strong Microsoft Excel knowledge, data manipulation, Excel formulas etc...

Career Path

Education / Experience / Certifications:

  • Associate degree or greater preferred

  • Project Management Certifications (desired, although not required): 

    • PMP, CAPM, CPMP

  • Software experience within the food service industry is a plus 

    • i.e. Electronic Point of Sale or Menu Planning software

The US base salary for this full-time position is $90,000 to $110,000 + benefits. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
