HYBRID ROLE: 3x/week in the Tempe, AZ office
About the Role:
The Senior Site Reliability Engineer will be a part of the Platform Engineering team within the Technology Operations organization. This team provides platform solutions, and systems automation to enable the DevOps and application development groups. As a member of Platform Engineering, you will help maintain and improve the systems and services that host Gen products. You will collaborate with application development teams, devops teams, security, and audit to understand their needs and implement changes to help achieve shared goals. You will build or integrate services into the platform infrastructure. You will be accountable for the production environment of these services including on-call 24x7 support. As a Senior SRE on the team will be required to work with minimal oversight in your day to day but will rely on leadership to provide a clear project roadmap.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform day to day maintenance operations to support a 24/7 high-performance, highly available infrastructure environments in AWS and Azure.
- Develop Terraform modules to update or deploy new services in AWS, GCP and Azure.
- Author new automated pipelines to orchestrate the SDLC of various platform engineering services.
- Ensure all key service metrics are measured, monitored and raising alerts using Sensu, Dynatrace, Sumologic, and other cloud based monitoring solutions.
- Participate in code reviews with peers.
- Create and update runbooks, and how to articles for new and existing services.
- Promote a DevOps culture by actively building relationships with other technical and business teams.
- Provide feedback to leadership and team mates on design decisions and issues to allow us to re-evaluate our approach.
- Work autonomously with minimal oversight.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors of Science, Computer Science or related discipline.
- 2+ years of experience in Information Technology.
- 2+ years of experience working in a primarily Linux based hosting environment.
- 2+ years of experience in an Agile DevOps team, Cloud Engineering team or related discipline.
- 2+ years of experience with configuration management, infrastructure as code practices, and continuous delivery methodologies.
- Experience building, testing, deploying and operating highly scalable and resilient cloud-based application infrastructure (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) in a medium or large enterprise.
- Experience with version control systems. (Git, SVN, etc.)
- Experience with container platforms. (ECS, Kubernetes, DCOS, Nomad, etc.)
- Experience with continuous integration and delivery tools. (Jenkins, GitLab, etc.)
- Experience with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform or Cloud Formation.
- Experience writing and updating systems written in Python, NodeJS, Groovy, Ruby, or other interpreted programming languages.
- Experience maintaining and deploying mission-critical systems with zero downtime.
- Excellent written communication, problem solving, and process management skills.
- Desire to work in a fast paced, evolving, growing, dynamic environment.
- Self-motivated with a strong willingness to learn new technologies.
- Experience evaluating existing systems and identifying improvement areas.
