GEM Technologies, Inc. (GEM) is seeking a HFIR Software Controls and Integration Engineer to join our team. This position is full-time and will serve the Oak Ridge National Laboratory Oak Ridge, TN. 

  • Provides technical support to operations, and maintenance, and performs systems analysis.
  • Responsible for the design, development, implementation of the division’s software-based Industrial Control Systems (ICS) throughout the entire system development life cycle, including configuration control, software quality assurance, and cyber security.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or related field and 5+ years of electrical and instrumentation and control experience.
  • Experience with HMI/SCADA control systems software including Allen-Bradley ControlLogix, GE iFIX and Visual Basic.
  • Experience with servers, networking components, common protocols, and databases.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and interpret requirements and technical specifications.
  • Demonstrated ability in hardware/software integration.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 Suite.
  • RAD Worker II training.
  • Experience with 10CFR830 – Nuclear Safety Management, DOE O 414.1D – Quality Assurance, ASME NQA-1 – Quality Assurance Requirements for Nuclear Facility Applications, FISMA 2002 – Federal Information Security Management Act of 2002, NIST Special Publication (SP) 800 Series – Computer Security.
  • To be considered, you must be able to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance, if needed.
  • Due to the nature of the work, a U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Experience with virtual machine and thin client technology.
  • Experience with administration of historians, web-based development, and SQL databases.
  • Experience with AutoCAD.
  • Experience with cybersecurity / firewalls.
